WELCOME
Welcome to my website! This space serves as a hub of information about urban food systems that I share.
My Ph.D. focused on urban social movements that organize around local food production, distribution, and consumption. Social movements creating and maintaining urban food systems are changing how we understand the urban environment and how we eat in cities.
Urban food production is increasingly important for city life. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) estimates that some 800 million people practice urban agriculture worldwide.
My calling is to create a roadmap that helps individuals and groups establish sustainable, fair and local food systems in cities around the world. I help shape urban and just community-based food systems using the best information available. I do that by fusing the knowledge of academia with the experience of practitioners and crafting that material to meet the needs of a community.
On my blog, refine and discuss these topics and my research in greater detail. On my twitter and tumblr feeds, I curate a selection of popular articles and blogs discussing urban food systems. Subscribing to my public Facebook page is an easy way to have the latest information appear in your facebook feed. You can also subscribe to my mailing list for a quarterly email newsletter.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding citing my work or applying concepts described on this website or blogs to your urban agriculture practice.
